David Earl Tanner 70, of Flatwoods KY went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland KY.

He was born in Welch WV on November 9, 1946 a son of the late Alexander Edward & Mabel Mae Hurley Tanner.

He was a retired Sergeant for the Kentucky State Police, a member of the Flatwoods Church of Christ and a Veteran on the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife Shelly Thacker Tanner; two sons, Timothy David Tanner and his wife Tracie of Richmond and Ben Tanner and his wife Carla of Raceland; four grandchildren, Hannah Nicole Tanner, Cole Tanner, Tyler Austin Tanner and Abby Brooke Tanner; an aunt and his second mother, Sharon Stowers of Iaeger WV and a host of cousins, extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Flatwoods Church of Christ by Brother Mark Day.

Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods. 

Visitation will Monday, April 17 from 6:00 till 8:00 PM at the church and one hour before the funeral service on Tuesday.

The Kentucky State Police Honor Guard will conduct graveside services. 

Troopers from the Kentucky State Police will serve as Pallbearers; honorary pallbearers will be Denny Deskins and Mont Wheeler.

In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Flatwoods Church of Christ or Community Hospice.

Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup has been entrusted with the arrangements.
