Marvin Estill Byrd 85 of Plum Grove in Greenup County went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at his residence.
He was born on February 24, 1932 in Morgan County Kentucky a son of the late Estill Monroe & Anna Wells Byrd.
He was a lifelong member of Plum Grove Baptist Church, served in the US Army in Korea in 1953 as a member of the 204th Field Artillery; he was a life member of Greenup VFW 1168 and was retired from CSX Railroad.
He was preceded in death along with his parents by his wife, Phyllis Byrd, in 2002; five brothers, Luther Byrd, John Byrd, Fred Byrd, William Byrd, and Douglas Byrd; three sisters, Alleen Loden, (Bill), Lena Coffee, (Ed), and Rosa Ranger. (Gene) and a brother in law, Bob Large.
He is survived by two daughters Beverly Deirfield and her husband Fred of Baltimore OH and Vicky Binion and her husband Rob of Grayson; a son, Rick Byrd and his wife Debbie of Greenup; a sister, Lucy Large of Lloyd; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Tom Riffe.
Burial will follow in the Plum Grove – Collins Cemetery on Plum Grove.
Visitation will be after 6:00 PM Monday and 1 hour before the funeral Tuesday at the funeral home.
The Kenova American Legion will conduct military graveside rites.
Pall Bearers are Joseph Deirfield, Robbie Binion, Bo Deirfield, Derrick Byrd, Joey Deirfield, Rob Binion, and Fred Deirfield. Honorary Pall Bearers are Jack Deirfield, and Jacob Deirfield.
