Welcome to the memorial page for

Molly Anna Dunn Nicholls

October 23, 1925 ~ March 9, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Molly Anna Dunn Nicholls 91, of Greenup went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY.

She was born in Greenup County on October 23, 1925 a daughter of the late Virgil Lewis & Kate Rosalie Freye Dunn.

She was an 80 year member of the Greenup First United Methodist Church, a retired school teacher teaching at the Greenup Independent Schools and the Greenup County School System, attended Morehead Normal College and was a graduate of the University of Kentucky.

Molly lived a full life and witnessed American history from the depression era to the millennium.  During WWII she desired to be Rosie the Riveter and go up north to work in the war factories.  However, her father required her to attend college instead where she found her love in home economics.  She touched so many lives with her caring spirit and desire to teach homemaking skills.  Her lessons will be remembered for generations across Greenup County.  Her greatest love was her family.  Molly and Pete dedicated themselves to making family memories and traditions. Her elegance and class were rare qualities that transcended time and change and will be carried through her family to future generations.

She was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her husband L.H. “Pete” Nicholls in 2001.

She is survived by two sons, Lewis D. Nicholls and his wife Barb of Greenup and Donald H. Nicholls and his wife Pam of Worthington; a sister, Janet Clarke and her husband Joe of Cincinnati; three grandchildren, Mark Nicholls and his wife Deborah, Kristen Francis and her husband Mike and Rebecca Flynn and her husband Scott; seven great grandchildren, Luke Nicholls, Caleb Nicholls, Micah Nicholls, Ford Francis, Shepard Francis, Elijah Flynn, Emmitt Flynn and a host of extended family and friends.
