Welcome to the memorial page for

Pebble Gay Fields

April 2, 1939 ~ January 16, 2018 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Pebble Gay Fields 78 of Greenup went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at her residence.

Born Easter Sunday, April 2, 1939 in Pike County Kentucky.  She joined the Burning Springs Old Regular Baptist Church in Pike County, Kentucky on July 28, 1956, her sister Pansy also joined the same day.

She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Mattie Maynard Syck and 3 brothers and 3 sisters: Pansy (Johnny) Stratton, Lake (Bruce) Layne, Lucille (Jay Paul) Shortridge, Irvin (Madeline) Billiter, Quentin (Gloria) Howard, and Kelly Ray Syck.  She is survived by 1 brother Doug (Connie) Howard of San Antonio TX and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She leaves behind 3 daughters: Sharon Kay Fields and Sonja Lynn Fields of Greenup, KY; Laura Francine (David) Dillow of Warnock, KY; 1 son: Timothy Wayne Fields of Oakwood, VA.  Also surviving are 7 grandchildren: Kelly Justine York of Radcliff, KY, Laura Christine Dillow of Warnock, KY, Jason Lloyd Dillow of Weston, WV, Mitzie Danielle (Ben) Heaberlin of Grayson, KY, Anthony Wayne Fields of Butte, MT, Aaron Thomas (Shawn) Jones of Springfield, MA, and Stephen Edward Nichols of Hodgenville, KY and 7 great grandchildren: Ema-Leigh, Eden, Spencer, Stella, Connor, Jensen, and Sophia.

After the family moved to Ashland in 1957 she raised her children in the Philadelphia Association Churches and always said she was blessed to have two home church families.  She was known for many things, particularly her pumpkin rolls with her secret ingredient “a pinch of love”.  She earned her GED in 1987 and made sure each of her children finished at least high school.  She was a seamstress at Stars Fashion and altered many items for family and friends from her home over the years.  She quilted for Hospice of Ashland for 14 years even during her stay at Woodland Oaks and enjoyed her many hours with her quilting friends.  She enjoyed going to church, cooking for her family, sewing, quilting, and going on drives in the country.

The family wishes to extend their many thanks to all her church, family, and friends who have shown so much thoughtfulness, love, and care to her throughout her life.  Appreciation to organizations such as Woodland Oakes, Hospice Care, Ashland Active Day, Ashland Arthritis Center, MTS and Medi-Cab and Dr. Jones and staff of Family Medicine Center of Bellefonte who have become our extended family.  Words can’t express what it means to have caregivers like these wonderful people.

She loved her church, family, and friends – she will be sorely missed by many!
