Garnet Virginia Nelson

Garnet Virginia Nelson 84 of Greenup KY went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Hempstead Manor Nursing Facility in Portsmouth OH.

She was born in Greenup County Kentucky on February 19, 1935 a daughter to the late Charley & Ollie Mae Howard Underwood Sr.

She was a member of Greenup First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death along with her parents by her husband, Sye “Homer” Nelson; a daughter, Lisa Lynn Troglen; a brother, Charles Underwood Jr. and five sisters, Margie Eggers, Dorothy Nelson, Inia Huff, Jean Brooks and Charlotte Hern.

She is survived by a son Vincent Durant Nelson (Anita Ramey) of Wheelersburg; a daughter, Brenda Kay Gardner and her husband Wayne of Lucasville; a brother, Herbert Underwood of Winchester; 7 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Dr. Tom Melvin.

Burial will follow in the Eggers Cemetery in York KY.

Visitation will be after 6:00PM Monday, November 4, 2019 at the funeral home.
