Harlan Edward Barney 95 of Ashland KY went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Community Hospice in Ashland KY.
He was born on Smith Branch in Greenup County on March 1, 1924 a son of the late Charlie & Josephine Ratliff Barney.
He worked at the Baltimore Shipyards during WW II and retired from C & O Railroad in Russell; He was a longtime member of the Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church on Smith Branch.
He was preceded in death along with his parents by his wife, Alice Irene Clark Barney; two daughters, Josie Ann and Mary Lou Barney; five brothers, Walter, Taylor, Charles, Henry and Cleo Barney and three sisters, Evelene Adkins, Eunice Caldwell and Mazilla Rosser.
He is survived by four sons, Harlan G. Barney and his wife Valerie and Bill Barney and his wife Linda both of Ashland, Tim Barney and his wife Linda of Franklin Furnace OH and Gregory Barney of Dayton; five daughters, Lois Jackson and her husband Max of Ashland, Wilma Potter of Independence, Cynthia Roe and her husband Bruce and Brenda Barney both of Ashland and Darla Satterfield and her husband Dan of Knoxville; along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be Noon Monday, May 20, 2019 at the Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church by Elders of the church.
Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am till the time of the service on Monday at the church.
Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY has been entrusted with the arrangements.
