Ira Cleveland Adkins, Jr.

September 13, 1945 ~ October 13, 2019 (age 74)


Ira Cleveland Adkins Jr. 74 of Wurtland went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Oakmont Manor Nursing Home in Flatwoods KY.

He was born in Flatwoods KY on September 13, 1945 a son of the late Ira Cleveland & Maggie Spence Adkins.

He was a retired Carman for C.S.X. Railroad; a member of the Friendship Old Regular Baptist Church where he is a deacon and moderator; he was a former assistant moderator of the New Mount Olive Old Regular Baptist Church and the former assistant moderator of the Philadelphia Association of the Old Regular Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by four siblings, Alice Curnutte, Ethel Walker, Juanita Vanhorn and Finess Adkins.

He is survived by his wife Judy Carolyn Fortner Adkins; two sons, Gary Adkins and his wife Sheila and Scott Adkins and his wife Jody both of Greenup; a daughter, Letisa Moore and her husband Paul of Wurtland; a brother, Charles Adkins and his wife Kay of Greenup; four sisters, Ruth Boggs and her husband William of Flatwoods, Rosa Bledsoe and her husband Dallas of Louisa, Jeanette Menshouse of Louisa and Maxine Sebastian and her husband Jim of Catlettsburg; eight grandchildren, Gary Adkins Jr., Emily Adkins, Anna Morrelles, Calie Smith, Caleb Adkins, Regan Adkins, Chelcie Moore and Whitnie Moore; a sister in law, Phyllis Caudill and her husband Wayne of Raceland and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the Friendship Old Regular Baptist Church in Flatwoods KY by Elders of the church.

Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Flatwoods KY.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the church.

Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup has been entrusted with the arrangements.
