Marsha Dale Burks Martin

Marsha Dale Burks Martin 70 of Lloyd KY went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 29, 2019 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland KY. She was born in Lorado WV on August 25, 1948 a daughter of the late John Loren & Doris Burks. She was a member of the Greenup Christian Church. She achieved her Bachelor’s Degree from Marshall University & Masters degree from Morehead State University. She retired with 33 years of service in the education system. Last 10.5 years as Greenup Co ATC Principal. Described by Staff & Colleagues as Professional, Fair & Caring. Marsha believed that listening is the single most important thing a person needs. She said, "It's important to listen to everyone. Listening allows you to understand where people are coming from - It's imperative that you know where they are before you can take them to where they need to be." She filled our hearts with a lifetime of love in just 24 years as a wife, 70 years as a little sister, and 33 years as a remarkable Mother. In a hug and a smile from Marsha your pain could be washed away. With just a look from her you’d feel more love than getting a standing ovation on Broadway. Marsha was truly a treasure to be cherished but as a Christian, a wife, a little sister, a best friend, a neighbor, a professional, and as a Mother she made the people she loved feel as though each and every one of them was the treasure to her. God lived in Marsha. She’s in heaven. She’s no longer in pain. She’s free. 

She is survived by her husband, Clayton Martin; a son, Andrew Loren Burks (Kaiti);  a step son, Terry Martin (Loretta); a step daughter, Tammy Tabor (Robbie); a grandson, Zak Martin (Allison); a brother, John Loren Burks; a sister, Nancy Marlyn Bryant (Donald); two Nephews, John Collin Burks (Karen) and Loren Allen Burks (Mary); two nieces, Megan Bryant Funk (Josh) and Abby Bryant (Billy) along with a host of extended family and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Highland Memory Gardens in Chapmanville WV by Brother Mike Dennis.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at the Greenup Christian Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY.
