1934 – 2021

Anna Merle Cales 86 of Greenup KY went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at her residence.

She was born on July 21, 1934, in Mingo County WV a daughter of the late Sam & Lesta Preston Maynard.

She was a member of the Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death along with her parents by a granddaughter, Donna Kaye Cales; two brothers, Howard Maynard and Paul Maynard, a sister, Mary Martha Maynard and a son in law, Howard Staton.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Roy Howard “Rip” Cales whom she married on September 16, 1950; three sons, Paul David Cales and his wife Deborah of Meridian MS, Donald Lee Cales and his wife Myrtle of Hueytown AL and Roy Howard Cales Jr. and his wife Linda of Corbin KY; three daughters, Blanche Ann Staton of Flatwoods, Lesta Margaret Cole and her husband Neal of Olathe KS and Rebekah Ruth Renn and her husband Wayne of Raceland; a sister, Debby Brown of Lloyd; 22 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, her Old Regular Baptist Church family, her caregivers and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at the Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church in Lloyd KY by Elders Willis Tolliver and Gary Blevins.

Burial will follow in the Preston Cemetery in Greenup County KY.

Visitation will be after 6:00 PM on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, and one hour before the funeral on Wednesday at Little Rosa Church.

Church services will be held at 7:00 PM during visitation at the church.
