1957 - 2024
Barbara Jean (Traylor) Johnson, 66, of Greenup, Kentucky passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky surrounded by her loving family. Barb was born June 30, 1957 in Greysbranch, Kentucky, daughter of the late Russell and Virginia (Seth) Traylor.
Most recently, Barb was a dedicated bus attendant to the special needs students she assisted through Greenup County Schools and Bookkeeper for Little Sandy Tires. She also served many years on the Little Sandy Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Together with her late husband, Virgil Johnson, she was owner and operator of the former Johnson’s Grocery and Variety Store, Johnson’s Country Kitchen, and VJ’s Auction Co.
In addition to her service to the community, Barb was devoted to each and every one of her family members, as well as her many close friends. She will be missed by her children Virgil Johnson Jr. of Greenup, KY and Candetta (Kurt) Harvey of Pinckney, MI.; grandchildren Alexis Salisbury, Olivia Harvey, and Gavin Harvey; Siblings, Sue (Dave) Huffman, Joan (Jay) Bechtold, Donald Traylor, Wanda Traylor, Betty Traylor, Karen Halloway, Lynette Gallagher, Lisa (Daniel) Patrick, and Pamela (Darrin) Jenkins; Half-Siblings, Terry (Carol) Ross, and Randy Tarr; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A public graveside service by Bro. Danny Brown will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January 26, 2024, at the Warnock Cemetery, Laurel Rd, Greenup, Kentucky 41144. A memorial dinner will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 4:00 PM at the Little Sandy Fire Department, RT 2 Station.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital, 110 Conn Terrace, Lexington, KY 40508.
