James Russell “Bub” Haney Jr. 84, of Flatwoods KY went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland KY.

He was born in Carter City KY on March 31, 1941, a son of the late James Russell & Myrtle Colley Haney.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the Olive Hill Masonic Lodge #629, a farmer and had retired as an independent truck driver.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by three sisters, Leoris McDaniels, Irene Watson and Chan Potter.

He is survived by his wife, Maureena Craft Haney; a son, Jeffery David Haney and his wife Tara of Nicholasville KY; a granddaughter, Lisa Faith Haney of Nicholasville; a brother, John David “J.D.” Haney of Minford OH along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Graveside military services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery NE in Greenup County Kentucky by members of the U.S. Army and the Kenova American Legion.

There is no visitation.
