Charon P. Gilliam
1939 – 2024
Charon P. Gilliam 85 of Boyd County Kentucky went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
He was born on January 16, 1939, in Greenup County KY, a son of the late David H. & Mamie E. Taylor Gilliam.
He was a member of the Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church, where he served as a clerk with over 27 years of service for the Little Mary Church, Little Rosa Church and the Philadelphia Association of the Old Regular Baptist Church.
Charon retired as a Photogrammetrist from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after over 33 years of service.
He was preceded in death along with his parents by his wife of 56 years, Loretta Gail Gilliam, a brother, Danny R. Gilliam and a daughter in law, Debora G. Gilliam.
He is survived by a son, Paul D. Gilliam; a daughter, Sharanna G. Romans; four grandchildren, Kathleen and Husband David Curry, Nicole Gilliam, David Gilliam, and Kayla and Husband Seth Morris; a great grandson, Samuel Morris; a brother, D. Duane Gilliam and his wife Mary; a sister, Marcia and her husband J.T. Rougeou along with many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews, his Old Regular Baptist Church Family and Friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church on Smith Branch Road in Greenup KY by Elders Gary Adkins and C. Preston Lewis.
Burial will be in the Rose Hill Memorial Burial Park in Ashland KY.
Visitation will be after 6:00 PM on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church and 2 hours before the funeral service on Saturday at the church.
Church meeting will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday during visitation at Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church.
