Oscar Dennis “Denny” Bear 83, of Pedro OH formally of Greenup KY went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at UK/Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland KY.

He was born in Greenup County Kentucky on April 12, 1942, a son of the late Earnest & Jessie Middleton Bear.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by a son, Robert Eugene “Bobby” Bear; three brothers, Clayton Bear, Bobby Bear and Gene Bear and two sisters, Louise Dummit and Virgie Farris.

He is survived by his very special lady of 28 years, Verna Akers; two sons, Dennis Bear (Machell) of Greenup and Jason Bear (Shanie) of Ashland; a daughter, Christy Ratliff (Mark) of Greenup; a daughter in law, Lisa Bear of Lynn; a sister, Alice Gillum of Plant City FL; 13 grandchildren, Chris (Sarah) Bear, Staphanie (David) Bentley, Whitney Ratliff, Justin (Katie) Ratliff, Makayla Bear, Airanna Bear, Javier Bear, Josephrona Bear, Miracle Bear, Braxton Bear, Bravery Bear, Mika Bear and Renesmay Bear; five great grandchildren, Anna Bentley, Allie Bentley, Aubrey Bentley, Eli Bear and Riley Ratliff along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be after 6:00 PM on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY.

Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.    

Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup, KY. has been entrusted with the arrangements.
