Don Baker

1936 ~ 2023

Donald Ray Baker 87 of Wurtland KY went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 16, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born in Greenup County Kentucky on January 6, 1936, the only child to the late Clifford & Alice Hamilton Baker.

Don was a retired Carman for C.S.X. Railroad, a member of the Brush Creek Freewill Baptist Church, a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carman.

He worked as a Railroader but in his heart, he was always a farmer.   

Don was preceded in death along with his parents by two wives, Marlene Smith Baker and Donna Faye Wells Baker and a son in law, Johnny Justice.

He is survived by four daughters, Debra Barker (Eddie Bennett) of Wurtland, Regina Kay Sutton of Westwood, Donna Rae Yavorcik of Wurtland and Tammy Justice of Wurtland; two stepdaughters, Myra Logan of Raceland and Sharon O’Reilly of Westwood; fifteen grandchildren, Michael Sutton, Stacey Barker May, Aaron Sutton, Christy Barker Morrison, Nathan Sutton, Amanda Sewell, Sarah Bradshaw, Renee Crites, Allison Cooley, Joel O’Reilly, Daniel O’Reilly, Jonathon O’Reilly, Donna Gehringer, Amber Logan and Robbie Logan; twenty-one great grandchildren and one great great grandchild along with a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY by Brother Joe Marshall, Dr. Thomas Melvin and Frank Hackworth.

Burial will follow in the Baker – Smith Cemetery in Wurtland KY.

Visitation will be after 6:00PM on Friday, October 20, 2023, and one hour before the funeral on Saturday at the funeral home.
