Donald Vinson Sr.

1933 – 2023

Donald Lloyd Vinson Sr. 89 of Flatwoods KY went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods KY.

He was born in Logan WV on December 8, 1933, the son of the late Alva Lloyd & Florida B. Shy Vinson.

He was a retired independent truck driver, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, an Eagle Scout and along with his wife the owner of the former May’s Donut Shop in Ashland KY.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by his wife, Mabel Louise Vinson; a daughter, Pamela Vinson and a grandson, Jerrod Vinson.

He is survived by a son, Donald Lloyd Vinson Jr. and his wife Jeanie of Flatwoods; a daughter, Diana Childers and her husband Mark of Kitts Hill OH; grandchildren, Hunter Vinson of Flatwoods KY, Brandon Vinson and wife Meghan of Chillicothe OH, Sydney O’Farrell and husband Daniel of Sardinia OH; great grandchildren, Camryn Vinson, Emma Vinson, Emma Whalen, Bryliegh O’Farrell, Gabriel O’Farrell, Emily O’Farrell and Zoey Vinson along with a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY by Dr. Thomas Melvin.

Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods KY.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM till the time of the service at the funeral home.

Military graveside rites will be held by Lt. Colonel Vance Houston Marine Corps League Detachment #1345.
