Doug Starrett
1970 – 2022
Douglas Lee Starrett Jr. 51 of Flatwoods KY went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at his home following a sudden illness.
He was born in Charlotte NC on October 14, 1970, a son of the late Douglas Lee Starrett and the late Doris Ray Herron Starrett Norton.
He was an employee for the City of Russell KY, a member and Past Master of Greenup Masonic Lodge #89 F& A.M., a member and engineer on the Russell Fire Department, a member of G.O.T.E.M., the Kentucky Silver Muskie Club and the Camp of the Knife.
He was preceded in death along with his parents by his mother-in-law, Anna Ruth Boggs.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Lynn Boggs Starrett; two sons, Dakota William Starrett and Logan James Thomas both of Flatwoods; two daughters, Shelby Ray and Sarah Lynn both of North Carolina; a sister, Robin Long of Matthews NC; an uncle, Gene Starrett and his wife Faye of Iron Station NC; his father-in-law, William “Punk” Boggs of Flatwoods; five grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, brother and sister in laws, cousins and friends.
Graveside funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at the Friendship Cemetery in Flatwoods by Elder Gary Adkins.
Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM till 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at the Russell Fire Department (downtown station) with Masonic services starting at 1:00 PM, immediately following the Masonic services the members of the Russell Fire Department will escort Doug to the cemetery for committal services and burial.
Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY has been entrusted with Doug’s arrangements.
In lieu of flowers it is asked that donations be made to the Greenup Masonic Lodge or the Russell Fire Department.
