1944 – 2023

Douglas Edward Williams 79, a lifelong resident of Greenup KY went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Oakmont Manor Nursing Home in Flatwoods KY.

He was born in Greenup KY on February 29, 1944, a son of the late Bill & Margaret Martin Williams.

He was retired from North American Refractories in South Shore KY; a veteran of the United State Navy, a member of the House of Praise, a graduate of the Greenup Independent High School and was a former member of the Greenup City Council serving numerous terms.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by a son, Dwight Matthew Williams and a brother, James Nelson “Jimmy” Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra Kay Jackson Williams; a son, Douglas Edward Williams Jr. and his wife Rhonda of Huntington WV; a daughter, Anna Maria Olsen and her husband Paul of St. Louis MO; two grandchildren that they raised, Skyler Andrew Williams and Tiara Stori Williams; six grandchildren, Amanda, Samantha, Genna, Abigial, Andrea and Jamison; two great grandchildren, Vaeha and Ezekiel; a brother, Ronald Williams and his wife Mary Ellen; three sisters, Ruth Johnson, Virginia Pleasant and her husband Robert and Ann Gentry along with a host of nieces, nephews, a close church family, cousins, extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be at Noon on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY by Brother Kevin Harrison.

Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery NE.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM till the time of the service on Friday.
