1944 – 2022

Garnice Jay “John” Cox 78 of Warnock KY went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at his residence.

He was born in Wurtland KY on January 14, 1944, a son of the late William Edgar & Della Faye Sloan Cox.

He was a retired Locomotive Engineer for C.S.X. Railroad with over 40 years of service and the former minister of the Tygart Valley Baptist Church.

He was proceeded in death along with his parents by a grandson, Justin Cox.  

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Blevins Cox; seven children, Johnny Cox and his wife Renata of Greenup, Tom Cox and his wife Jhonda of Grayson, David Cox of Greenup, Dana Carroll of Greenup, Chris Cox and his wife Joy of Greenup, Bobby Cox and his wife Jolena of Greenup and Jason Meadows and his wife Cait of Greenup; a nephew, James Monroe and his wife Kristina; Rosalie Ward; fifteen

grandchildren, Jennifer, Kayla, Lindsay, Amanda, Jarrod, Lance, Gavin, Johnathon, Cassie, Ethan, Cameron, Peyton, Aiden, James Kale and Keeley; 21 great grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Cox and his wife Polly of Greenup and Roger Cox and his wife Jean of Wurtland; a sister, Pat Frazier along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date by his family.

Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY has been entrusted with the arrangements.
