George Marshall
1936 ~ 2026
George McKinley Marshall 90, of Load KY went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Grayson KY.
He was born on May 28, 1936, at home in Load KY the son of the late Willie & Ivory Morris Marshall.
He was of the Baptist faith.
George knew no strangers. He never forgot a name or a face and was a true friend to many families of Greenup County, especially in the Load community.
From a young age George knew what it was like to work on a farm. Born into a family of 12 children in the middle of the depression in the 30’s, farming wasn’t a chore, it was a matter of survival. He learned this trade well. He was a loyal friend and would travel all of Greenup County assisting other farming families with the annual harvest of their crops. It would be safe to say that no one walked more miles in their lifetime in Greenup County than George Marshall.
He was preceded in death along with his parents by his wife, Kathryn Slone Marshall; five brothers, Edward Marshall, Estill Marshall, Lewis “Jack” Marshall, Everett Marshall and Cratis Marshall and two sisters, Ersie Marshall and Louise Zornes.
He is survived by a son, Willie Lee Marshall of Ashland; a brother, Curtis Marshall; three sisters, Mary Holbert, Inez Oliver and Annalee Jones; two grandchildren along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup County by Brother Bill White.
Burial will follow in the Quillen Cemetery in Lynn KY.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM till the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup, KY. has been entrusted with the arrangements.
