Gladys Marie Tackett Skeens, 81, of Load Kentucky passed away Monday, July 18, 2022, at her residence surrounded by family.

Gladys was born September 18, 1940, in Lewis County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Ollie and Elsie Richards Tackett and Carl and Mae Sizemore.

In addition to her parents and aunt and uncle, she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Skeens, a son, Barry Skeens and three brothers, Walter Tackett of Boston, Massachusetts, Alvin Tackett of Lucasville, Ohio, Larry (Buck) Tackett of Load, Ky, a sister, Anna Mae Miller of Scioto County, Ohio and a daughter in law, Dana Skeens of Load, Ky.

Gladys was a cook at Lynn Elementary and was a homemaker. She loved being outside and working in her yard and flowers. She also loved her children and grandchildren immensely and her little dog Hank.

She is survived by four children, Gary (Connie) Skeens, Danny (Carla) Skeens, Terry Skeens and Melissa (Erik) Brown, all of Load Kentucky.

She had 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild.

Gary Skeens Jr, Kenneth (Marlene) Skeens II, Korie Skeens, Blayne Skeens, Brody Skeens, Cassandra (Tim) McGinnis, Jordan Skeens, Lauren (Austin) Caskey, Tyler Skeens, Shannon (Rebecah) Wireman, Joshua DeLawder, Angelrae Bates, Charlee McGinnis, Daylyn Skeens, Miana Lyon, Raylee Skeens, Amber Wireman, Ariel Wireman,Vivian Skeens and Wrenzi Skeens.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY by Brother Robbie Bond.

Burial will follow in the Bentley Cemetery in Load KY.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM till the time of the Funeral on Thursday at the Funeral Home.

Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY has been entrusted with the arrangements.
