Herbert Lee Melvin 85, of Wurtland KY went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Wurtland Nursing and Rehabilitation in Wurtland KY.

He was born in Wurtland KY on March 2, 1939, a son of the late William R. & Opal Ison Melvin.

He was a retired crane operator for C.S.X. Railroad, a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Old Steam Baptist Church and was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance Way Union.

He is survived by two sons, Kerrick Shawn Melvin and his wife Patricia of Haverhill OH and Jason Matthew Melvin of Wurtland; two daughters, Adrian Suzanne Scott and her husband Randall of Zenia OH and Karen Garvin and her husband David of Wurtland; four grandchildren, Amanda Garvin, Shannon Jones, Alec Melvin and Samatha Ashley; two great grandchildren, Harper Melvin and Kennadie Melvin; three brothers, William Earl Melvin of Greenup, Lawrence Melvin of Wurtland and Ernest Melvin of Wurtland; two sisters, Brenda Woods of Wurtland and Nola Sturgill of Wurtland along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY by Brother Rodney Vance.

Burial will follow in the Melvin Cemetery in Wurtland KY.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon till the time of the funeral on Wednesday at the funeral home.
