1960 – 2023

James Anthony Riggs 62 of Wurtland KY went to be with the Lord on Saturday, 25 2023 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth OH.

He was born in Russell KY on May 10, 1960 a son of the late Lowell Walter & Orca Gilliam Merritt Riggs.

He was a transport driver for the Halcon and an avid U.K. fan.  

He was preceded in death along with his parents by two brothers, Walter Riggs and Ray Riggs as well as three sisters, Phyllis Sanders, Betty Tolliver and Clara Griffith.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Penny Sue Hall Riggs; three sons, David Michael Riggs, James Matthew Riggs and Samuel Lee Riggs all of Wurtland; two daughters, Emily Desiree Riggs of Louisville and Sierra Rain Riggs of Wurtland; a brother, Stanley Riggs and his wife Connie of Russell; two sisters, Glenda Harris of Greenup and Shirley Riggs of Owensboro KY along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY by Brother Rodney Vance.

Burial will follow in the Smith Branch Cemetery in Lloyd KY.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM till the time of the funeral service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
