Joy Wilburn
1941 – 2022
Joy Evelyn Wilburn 80, of Wurtland KY went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington KY.
She was born in Elliott County KY on October 15, 1941, a daughter of the late Frank & Gracie Barker Smith.
She delivered papers for the Daily Independent, worked in environmental services at AK Steel and Wurtland Nursing and Rehab.
She enjoyed fishing and gardening, canning and cooking. She loved attending her grandson’s ballgames and faithfully attended and was a member of the Oldsteam Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death along with her parents by her stepdad, Crate Brickey; siblings, Juanita (Delmer) Hay, Wanda Lee (Roy) Laney and Willie (Brenda) Smith.
She is survived by two sons, David Anthony Wilburn of Wurtland and James Lloyd Wilburn and his wife Melissa of Danleyton; four grandsons, David Scott Wilburn and Jonathon Aaron Wilburn of Wurtland and James Grant Wilburn and Joshua Garrett Wilburn both of Danleyton; a brother, Darrell (Debbie) Brickey of Catlettsburg; a sister, Judy (Jerry) Jenkins of Kitts Hill OH along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY by Brother Rodney Vance.
Burial will follow in the Brickey Cemetery in Wurtland Kentucky.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon till the time of the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
