1927 – 2021
Love I Lee Fannin Conley 93 of Wurtland KY went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland KY.
Born October 26, 1927 At Beechy, Kentucky. Daughter of Marcus De Lafayette & Nellie Bly Fossett Fannin.
Preceded in death by her parents. and siblings, twin sister, Loris I See Bowling, sisters, Nellie Bly Hammond, Pauline Rose, Margaret Fannin and brothers, Marcus De Lafayette Jr., Irving Fannin and William Fannin and her loving husband of 36 years, Oakie Conley.
Love is survived by her seven daughters, Millie (Bill) Willis, Wurtland, KY., Judy (Bobby) Thompson, Wurtland, KY., Gwen (Marty) Myers, Wurtland, KY., Debbie (Paul) Appleton, Camden, SC, Jill (Tom) Kemper, Argillite, KY, Nioka (Ralph) Hess, Camden, SC. and Lawanna (Rusty) Conlin, Wurtland, KY. And 11 grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
Love started her teaching career at the age of 19 at several one room schools in Greenup County. Her last teaching job was at Argillite Elementary School where she taught the third grade.
After leaving teaching, she spent many years raising her family. Love and husband Oakie Conley raised seven daughters. She eventually went back to work and worked 21 Years at Greenbo Lake State Park as Gift Shop Manager before retiring. Love was a member of Greenup Christian Church, past member of Democrat women’s club, Greenup County Retired Teachers, and 35 years as a Volunteer at Kings Daughter’s and Sons Nursing Home and past member of The Red Hatters Organization. She loved to draw and paint. She was a Kentucky Colonel. Love, studied art at Morehead State College. She had two poems published as a young girl. She could have done so much but chose her family over a career. Her daughters are so proud of her accomplishments.
A viewing for family and friends will be held from 10:00 AM till Noon on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the Greenup Christian Church. A private, family funeral will follow.
Burial will be in the Old Field Cemetery in Argillite KY.
Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY have been entrusted with her arrangements.
