1936 – 2026

Mary Margaret Tolliver, 90, of Greenup, Ky. passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, June 5, 2026, at UK/Kings Daughter Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

Mary was born on February 12, 1936, in Greenup, Ky., a daughter of the late Tom & Nettie Barney Hamilton.

She was preceded in death along with her parents by her brother Virgil Hamilton and a sister Beulah Carter.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Donald Tolliver, her sisters Ellen Gibson and Molly Thompson, her children Donald K. Tolliver (Janie), Pam Tolliver, Karen Ison (Tim), Mary Gillum (Joe), Anita Prater (Benny), Phil Tolliver (Wendy), Vonda Cornett (Sean), Tim Tolliver (Carla), as well as cherished  friend Carol Brown.

Along with being the loving mother of 8, she was the grandmother of 23, great-grandmother of 17 (soon to be 18) and was a devoted aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to both her family and extended family.

She never met a stranger and used her bountiful garden to ensure no one left her home hungry. She was a life-long advocate of higher education and proud of the academic achievements of her family.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup Ky. by Brother Clayton Oliver.

Burial will follow in the Tolliver Cemetery on Smith Branch Road in Greenup Ky. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM till the time of the funeral service on Monday at the funeral home.

Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup, Ky. has been entrusted with the arrangements.
