Mike “Red Beard” Carter
1954 – 2024
Gary Michael “Red Beard” Carter 69, of Greenup KY went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Kings Daughters Medical Center following a sudden illness.
He was born in Ironton OH on August 29, 1954, a son of Earl & Bessie Violet Burgess Carter.
He was a retired truck driver for Mountain Enterprises and was an avid car enthusiast. He enjoyed traveling to the Smokie Mountains and attending car shows. He loved the outdoors, mowing grass, gardening and camping but most of all he loved his family and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death along with his father by two brothers, Terry Lee Carter and James Henry “Tiny” Carter.
He is survived along with his mother by his wife of 41 years, Ina Rebecca Fannin Carter; a son, Timothy Ray McGinnis and his wife Cassandra of Load; a daughter, Misty Michelle Carter (Shelby Worthington) of Wurtland; three grandchildren, Kirsten Meadows and her husband Caleb, Angelrae Bates and Charlee Rayne McGinnis; two grandsons, Brantley Meadows and Raylan Meadows; a sister, Charlotte Brown of Flatwoods along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY by Brother Jerry Smith.
Burial will follow in the Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd KY.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM till the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
