Misty Chapman
1976 ~ 2026
Misty Marie Chapman, 50, of Greenup, Kentucky, passed away at Windsor Care Facility in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, on May 8th, 2026, after a long medical battle, and is now at rest.
She was born in Ashland, Kentucky on March 2, 1976, a daughter of Ruth (Parsons) and Robert Chapman Sr., of Greenup, Kentucky. From an early age, Misty was known for her stubborn, strong-willed nature, paired with a spirit that left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
Throughout her life, Misty was known for her competitive spirit and a love for sports. She could drain the three, catch fiercely, and line-drive a softball like no other. As a proud lefty, she brought her own style and strength to everything she did. She was an avid University of Kentucky and Dallas Cowboys fan, always cheering on her teams.
She found joy in the simple things, but above all else, her greatest love was her family. Even through life’s challenges, Misty showed resilience and determination, facing each day in her own unique way.
We take comfort in imagining her free again—back to “keeping those roads hot,” just as Joyce “Granny” Parsons always said. And without a doubt, she’s putting on the miles without worry, because “Bub,” her brother, Robert “Bobby” Chapman Jr., is right there with her—ready to fix anything that she breaks… even if he’s complaining about it the whole time.
Misty is survived by her daughter, Ashley “Griffith” Johnson, and her grandchildren, Amelia and Cameron Johnson of Kitts Hill, Ohio; her parents, Ruth (Parsons) and Robert Chapman Sr. of Greenup, Kentucky; and her sister, Amanda Chapman of Louisville, Kentucky, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Chapman Jr.; her maternal grandparents, Joyce Moore and Lemual Parsons Sr.; her paternal grandparents, Virginia “Adams” and Ralph Chapman; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Misty’s love, strength, and spirit will continue to live on in the lives she touched and the family who will carry her with them always.
