1946 – 2023

Raymond Leon Collier 76 of Load KY went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 29, 2023, at his residence.

He was born in Load KY on November 22, 1946, a son of the late Gilbert Franklin “Gib” & Ruth Braden Collier.

He was a retired Laborer for the Laborers Union Local 1445 working for W.B. Fossen’s Construction, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a founding member of the Load Volunteer Fire Department, a member of G.O.T.E.M. and a Kentucky Colonel.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by two brothers, Ronnie Braden and Roy Collier and two sisters, Geneva Martin and Thelma Tomlin.

He is survived by his wife, Jacquelin Helen Clem Collier; a son, Thomas Franklin Collier and his wife Virginia of Greenup; three grandchildren, Gilbert Collier and his wife Sammie, Brenda Hensley and her husband Gavin and Emily Collier; two great grandchildren, Apollo Hensley and Atlas Hensley; a brother, Ricky Collier and his wife Joy of Load KY; four sisters, Theda Martin of Flatwoods, Linda Sammons of Lexington, Brenda Stanley of Flatwoods and Rhonda Quillen and her husband Tim of Lloyd along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, June 2. 2023, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY by Brother Donnie Smith.

Burial will follow in the Bentley Cemetery in Load KY.

Visitation will be after 6:00 PM on Thursday, June 1, 2023, and 2 hours before the funeral on Friday at the funeral home.   

Military Rites will be held by the Vance Huston Detachment of the Marine Corps League.

Members of the Load Volunteer Fire Department will serve as Pallbearers.  

Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup, KY. has been entrusted with the arrangements.
