Rita Thornton
1955 ~ 2025
Rita “Nanny” Thornton, 70, of Lawton OK, passed away November 7, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family in Lawton. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love touched every generation.
Born in Ironton OH, on September 16, 1955, and raised in Warnock KY, she was the daughter of the late Andrew & Edna Mae Coburn Allen.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by a brother Bunyon (Jim) Allen; Gilbert Ray Thornton father of her kids and lifelong special friend, and great grandson Greyson Michael Litteral.
She is survived by her two daughters, Shanda Litteral and husband Shawn of Raceland, Ky, Andrea Neace and husband Dustin of Lawton, Ok and one son, Andrew Thornton and wife Haleigh of Auburn, Al, her seven grandchildren (Michael Litteral, Zack Litteral, Alexandria Robinson, Joshua Neace, and Harrison, MaeBren, and Wren Thornton), and ten great-grandchildren (Sonny Litteral, Kyleigh Litteral, Olivia Litteral, Coleman Litteral, Liam Litteral, Waylon Litteral, Kash Litteral, Gracie Robinson, Judah Robinson, and Evelyn Neace.)
Rita loved to crochet, sew, and create handmade treasures for her family. Her quilts, blankets, hats, and many other crocheted-with-love creations became keepsakes that her family will cherish forever. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Her deep love for her family will always be remembered.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY by Brother Floyd Neace.
Burial will follow in the Hall – Smith Cemetery in Warnock KY.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM till the time of the service at the funeral home.
Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup, KY. has been entrusted with the arrangements.
