Bob Rayburn
1949 – 2022
Robert Gene ”Bob” Rayburn 72 of Greenup KY went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 28, 2022, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland KY.
He was born in Ashland KY on August 12, 1949, a son of the late Paul & Ivory Nelson Rayburn.
Bob spent 38 years with Ashland/Marathon Oil. During his tenure Bob earned an Ace Award as well as developing patents to streamline operations of river traffic. His excellent memory, knowledge of mechanics and hard-working approach served the Ashland Marine Transportation department and fellow workers well. The young men that Bob trained are able to say they respect and commend him for the values he taught.
Bob enjoyed gardening and his horses, but his love was wrapped in his grandchildren with whom he traveled extensively. There are no words to express the significance in his life of his great granddaughter, Ellie, “Bops little sweetheart”. For all these things we are thankful, but utmost was his acceptance of Jesus Christ, his Savior.
He is survived by his wife Anice Fitzwater Rayburn; a son, Randy Rayburn and his wife Glenna of Russell; a daughter, Christy Haney and her husband John of Lloyd; five grandchildren, Derek Holston, Danielle Holston-Smith and her husband Pat, Darla Holston, Savannah and Kenny; a great grandchild, Ellie Smith; three sisters, Paula Moore and her husband Larry of Danleyton, Debra Patton and her husband Danny of Danleyton and Patty Haight and her husband Roy of Flatwoods; a dear uncle, Landon Fitzwater; two brother in laws, Leonard Fitzwater and his wife Marsha of Topsail Beach NC and Keith Fitzwater and his wife Terri of Reidsville NC along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, March 4, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Lloyd KY by Brothers Russ Foster and Amos Carr.
Burial will follow in the Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd KY.
