Bob Smith
1951 – 2024
Robert Wayne “Bob” Smith 73, of York KY went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Kingsbrook Lifecare Center in Ashland KY.
He was born in Portsmouth OH on August 14, 1951, a son of the late Wilbert Leroy & Helen Clary Smith Sr.
He was a Leak Seal Technician working for the Furmanite Incorporated at the Marathon Refinery. His co-workers affectionally called him “Furmanite Bob”.
His love was his family and grandchildren, his passion was raising cattle and farming. He was a member of the Greenup First Baptist Church and a graduate of McKell High School Class of 1969. He was an avid U.K. Wildcat fan and was very active in supporting the children in 4-H, F.F.A. and with the Greenup County Livestock.
He was preceded in death along with his parents by a brother, James Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rose Mary Moore Smith; a son, Patrick Wayne Smith (Nichole Bell) of York; a daughter, Renee Breech and her husband Jason of South Portsmouth; four grandchildren, Kierstin Clark, Lucas Smith, Alex Breech and Marlee Breech; a brother, Wilbert Leroy Smith Jr. of Pontiac MI; a sister, Linda Smith of South Shore along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, his work family and friends.
A Memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY by Dr. Thomas Melvin.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5:00 PM till the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers it is requested that donations be made to Alzheimer’s research at the BrightFocus Foundation 22512 Gateway Center Dr. Clarksburg, MD 20871.
