Roger Castle
1940 – 2023
Roger Warren Castle 82 of Greenup KY went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Wurtland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wurtland KY.
He was born in Ashland KY on December 25, 1940, a son of the late John Castle and the late Lexie Lucille Webb Castle Shortridge.
He was a Vietnam War Veteran serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS Coral Sea, a retired Crane Operator for AK Steel, the co-owner and operator of Castle Marina and the Greenup Radio Shack.
Roger was a 50-year member of the Greenup Masonic Lodge #89, a former member of the El Hasa Shrine, a licensed HAM operator and loved racing boats.
He was preceded in death along with his parents by his wife Jacqueline Ann “Jackie” Castle; two brothers, Harold Shortridge and James Michael Castle and two sisters, Nancy Shortridge and Bonnie Shortridge.
He is survived by a daughter, Rae Lynn Barker and her husband Shannon of Greenup; two grandchildren, Kayla Westfall and her husband Elijah of Jacksonville NC and Brandon Wilburn and his wife Melissa of Greenup; seven great grandchildren, Brett Lee, Caleb Cooper, Lucas Cooper, Brantley Wilburn, Aisley Wilburn, Madilynn Wilburn and Harper Wilburn; a sister, Diane Shortridge along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 12 Noon on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY by Brother Jack Edwards.
Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery NE in Greenup County Kentucky.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM till the time of the funeral service on Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations are encouraged to the Greenup Presbyterian Church 26 W. Main Street Greenup KY 41144.
