Sam Hampton
1954 ~ 2025
Samuel Joseph Hampton, 71, of Russell, Kentucky, passed away on December 28, 2025, at King’s Daughters after an extended illness.
He was born on August 12, 1954, to the late Lewis and Virginia “Jenny” Thompson Hampton and spent his childhood living in Fort Gay, WV.
Sam was known for his quick sense of humor, strong work ethic, and his love of tinkering with things, especially cars and watches. Though his life included challenges, his family remembers the good in him and the love he carried in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Michael Hampton; and his sister, Linda Gayle May.
He is survived by his children: Bradley (Niki) Hampton, Rebecca (Josh) Miller, Samantha Haddox, and John Burdette; and by his grandchildren: Mycah Miller, Eli Miller, Jarett, and Ryder Hampton, as well as his great-granddaughter, Alana. He is also survived by his siblings: Sharon Stiltner, Mary Lou Fritz, Teresa Worthington, Janis Clark, Rick Hampton, Kim Hannah, and Keith Hampton, along with several nieces and nephews.
Samuel was blessed with caregivers who supported him with compassion, including his goddaughter, Shantia, and his brother Rick, who also served as his caregiver.
The family will hold A celebration of life on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Greenup Christian Church, with Pastor Kyle Burchett officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories.
A portion of his remains will be laid to rest at Meade-Hampton Cemetery in Radnor, West Virginia.
The family is deeply grateful for the kindness and care shown during Sam’s illness.
