Sharon Miller

Sharon (Sherry) Jean Miller, 83 of Lloyd, KY, loving Mother, adoring Granny and devoted friend to many, passed into the arms of our Lord on April 23, 2025, at Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods, KY.

Sherry was born and raised in Ironton, Ohio to the late George and Bertha Jaynes Bishop. She was the devoted, older sister of the late Karen Jayne Miller (John Robert Miller).

She was a graduate of Ironton High School-Class of 1959. Sherry was preceded in death by her first husband, Clark David Dillon in 1969, and her second husband, Gary Lee Miller, in 2005. She was a proud citizen of Greenup, KY, where she was very active in her children’s sports and activities at the old Greenup Elementary School, a member of the Greenup First United Methodist Church and Methodist Women, Greenup Homemakers, Greenup Women’s Club and Greenup Lioness Club.

She was a strong supporter of the Greenup Lions Club and assisted behind the scenes with the annual Greenup Lions Club Horse Show. She was a “Mom” to everyone, especially her children’s numerous friends, where her house was often a “revolving door” of kids and their activities, especially driveway basketball games. Everyone was always welcomed into her home where countless meals were served, including chicken and rice, Texas sheet cake, and her famous goulash.

Sherry worked several jobs throughout her life. At an early age, she helped at her parent’s grocery store-Bishop’s Delicatessen, in Ironton. After high school, she worked in the offices at Ohio State University, then worked many years alongside her husband, Gary, at their insurance and real estate agency in downtown Greenup. She also worked for several years as the Front Office Manager at Tri State Animal Clinic, in Lloyd. Her greatest job was being a wife, a mother to her children and a granny to her numerous grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Mary Boyd (Jim) of Frankfort, KY; Steve Miller of Russell, KY; Gary Miller II (Lucy) of Lexington, KY; Troy Dillon of Lloyd, KY; Mark Miller (Rhonda) of Lexington, KY; and John Miller (Kim) of Lloyd, KY. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and special friends. She was preceded in death by one son, Mike Miller, in 1999.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 PM on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM till the time of the funeral service on Monday at the funeral home.

A Private burial service will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd, KY.
