1974 – 2023

Susan Ranae Bays 48, of Rush KY went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 11, 2023, in Boyd County KY from injuries sustained in an ATV accident.

She was born in Kemmerer WY on August 21, 1974, a daughter of Ben Bass of El Paso TX.  

She was a food service worker at Cannonsburg Elementary, she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a passionate love for music and loved spending time with her “kids” at the Cannonsburg Elementary School.

She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, John and Alice Sue Kelley Bays.

She is survived by her fiancé, Mike Lewis Hepler; two daughters, Susan Paige Dean and her husband Tyler of Franklin Furnace and Tessa Jo West of Greenup; a son, Landon Michael Hepler of Rush; five grandchildren, Gunner Thompson, Nevaeh Thompson, Jackson West, Wylder West and Grey West; stepchildren, Luke Hepler and Oliva Hepler; a brother, John Bays and his wife Stephanie of Ocean Springs MS; two sisters, Mamie Bass of Portland OR and Dora Barragan of El Paso; her in laws, Mike and Linda Barnwell; her brother and sister in laws, Jacob Barnwell, Katie Barnwell and Amber Hepler along with a multitude of extended family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY by Dr. Thomas Melvin.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 AM till the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
